Binh Dinh Province is located on the south central coast of Vietnam, and is the key economic region of central Vietnam.

The heart of the province is Quy Nhon City which is 1,065km from Hanoi and 649km from Ho Chi Minh City. Binh Dinh is adjacent to Quang Ngai Province to the north, Gia Lai Province to the west, and Phu Yen Province to the south. It has a long coastline of approximately 100km, and includes both small and big islands off-shore. Binh Dinh has a well-maintained infrastructure that carries diverse modes of transportation, allowing it to serve as an economic centre.

Weather in Binh Dinh is typically tropical monsoon with an average temperature of 27o C. The total annual rainfall of this province is about 1300-2700mm, and the rainy season often begins in September, lasting until December. Binh Dinh is Vietnam’s storm capital, having spectacular typhoons and thundershowers from September to November. Außerdem, terrain in Binh Dinh is a complex mixture of mountains, Flachland, lakes and rivers.

According to the national census in 2009, Binh Dinh had a total population of 1.5 Millionen Menschen, equal to 247people/km2. People in Binh Dinh are kind, hospitable and especially good at martial arts. It is so well known for this that the province is also called “The Land of Martial Arts”, and is the origin of many famous fighting techniques in Vietnam, including the Tay Son style. This area also conserves many traditional cultural features from thousands of years ago.
